 PROPERTIES

White, crystalline powder. Can be readily esterified by the common organic acids. Unaffected when boiled with dilute caustic alkali. Soluble in water; slightly soluble in alcohol; insoluble in benzene, carbontetrachloride, ether and petroleum ether.

B.P. 276 C(30mm); M.P. 262 C; refractive index (20 C) 1.54 59 1.56. Sp.gr. (25/4 C). Technical grade is approximately 88% Monopentaerythritol and 12% Dipentaerythritol and Polypentaerythritol.

 APPLICATIONS

Alkyd resins, Printing inks, Rosin and tall oil esters, Varnishes, Synthetic drying oils, Molding Pharmaceuticals, Explosives, Plasticizer, Stabilizers, Core oils, Paint swelling agents, etc.
